Introduction -- Research methods -- Conclusion -- References
Conference paper from COBRA RICS Construction and Building Research Conference. Researches the effect of construction supply chain delays on the time of completion of a project. Proper management of construction supply chains is an important factor to successful completion of a project. Uses as research method a mail survey and simulation models tested on Pertmaster Risk ExpertTM. Finds through this simulation, that when all possible chain supply delays are included, the project is delayed by 22 days, which is 20% of the project duration. Delays in material flow also brought major impact on a project. Lists the other most important causes of delays: labour flow, material flow, and information flow. Concludes that problems linked with "plant, equipment and temporary work" have the less impact on a project completion.
