Reports that the contraction of GDP of 1.9% in 1Q 2009 was due to a contraction of investment and inventories as well as a fall in household spending. The UK Eurostat Business Survey is now showing an improvement in general economic sentiment, with the FT also reporting that 11 out of 20 economists surveyed thought that the economy has stopped contracting in June. With regard to the property market, lack of supply is now the main factor holding back transactions, rather than lack of finance, and buyers now outnumber sellers, especially for properties with long leases and secure income.
