The mix-adjusted average house price was £209 466 in October 2010 (not seasonally adjusted). UK house prices fell by 0.2% in the quarter ending October 2010 compared with a rise of 0.5% in the quarter ending July 2010 (seasonally adjusted). Annual average house prices rose by 5.9% in England and 9.1% in Wales but fell in Northern Ireland by 7.6% and by 0.4% in Scotland. Annual average house prices paid by first time buyers in October 2010 were 3.4% higher than a year ago. By comparison average house prices paid by former owner occupiers were 6.3% higher. Annual average house prices paid for new properties in October 2010 were 4.4% higher than a year ago. By comparison average house prices paid on pre-owned dwellings were 5.6%.
