Looks at the performance of European housing markets in 2010, analysing trends across the continent in areas such as inflation, building activity, mortgage markets and turnover. Majority of European housing markets are showing signs of recovery. Nordic countries, Germany, France and Belgium experienced increases in real house prices in 2010. Ireland, Hungary and Cyprus experienced significant falls whilst Spain, Greece and Portugal saw moderate falls. Prices were slightly down in the UK, Netherlands, Poland and Italy with Baltic States beginnng to show signs of recovering following major crashes. Mortgage constraints are affecting many markets. Mortgage interest rates remain low. Housebuilding is down across Europe and is severely dragging the recover in most places.
