The proposals include: a legislative change so that future assignations of croft tenancies could be to two people in a joint tenancy thereby making crofts more affordable; removing or reducing regulatory barriers that limit the ability of an owner-occupier to grant a standard security over their croft; revised powers for the Crofting Commission to resolve crofting regulatory issues more quickly; and enabling more and different activity to be undertaken on common grazings, including peatland restoration and other environmental initiatives.
