Compares the UK Construction Act 1996 with New Zealand's newly published Construction Contracts Bill which is due to become law towards the end of 2002. Argues that the Construction Contracts Bill not only addresses weaknesses in the UK Construction Act, but goes further by incorporating a clearer approach in its payment provisions and writing the adjudication procedure into the bill. Concludes that practitioners will soon be referring to New Zealand case law in court cases regarding UK legislation.
