The new "Guidance on tall buildings" follows on a consultation document issued in June 2001, which has been redrafted at the government's request to reflect the responses received during the consultation period and takes into account the Transport, Local Government and the Regions select committee report of July 2002 and the government's response to it. The document sets out the importance of a plan-led approach to locating the right tall buildings in the right places. It will assist the development of tall building policies and will be capable of being a material consideration in planning proposals.
