Privacy and Electronic Communications (EC Directive) Regulations - 2003

Brought into force the Privacy and electronic communications directive (Directive 2002/58/EC) in the UK. Under the Directive, unsolicited commercial email and text messages can only be sent if the recipient has agreed in advance and firms who use cookies and similar internet tracking devices will be required to provide information on these devices.
