The final report of the Miles review investigates ways to improve the UK mortgage market. Section one sets out the scope of the review; section two considers optimal mortgage choice; section three summarises the potential macroeconomic implications of more long term fixed lending; and sections four to seven outline recommendations. The recommendations fall into two groups: those aimed at improving advice and information that borrowers receive and at creating a fairer pricing structure; and those aimed at helping lenders fund mortgages and handle risk in the most cost effective way.
