Consults on the revision of guidance contained within DoE Circular 1/94 "Gypsy sites and planning". Proposed changes to the Circular include a new definition of gypsy, a requirement that local authorities identify suitable sites for gypsies and travellers in their development plan documents and an explanation of how local housing assessments will assist local authorities to quantify the level of need. Responses should be submitted by 18 March 2005 and a summary of responses will be available by 20 June 2005. View the consultation paper on www.odpm.gov.
