Costing sustainability how much does it cost to achieve BREEAM and Ecohomes ratings

This paper presents the key findings from a cost analysis of different levels of environmental performance, as defined by BREEAM and EcoHomes schemes. Four different types of building, a house, a naturally ventilated office, an air-conditioned office, and a healthcare centre, were used as case studies. The analysis concluded that significant improvements in building sustainability performance can be achieved for little additional cost, and that more sustainable buildings can offer major in-use cost savings.
