Lyons inquiry into local government consultation paper and interim report

The consultation paper sets out how Sir Michael Lyons intends to approach his extended remit to consider the role and functions of local government and also seeks views on the key issues. The interim report presents some of the main issues emerging form work to date in relation to local government funding and seeks further views on these matters prior to his final report to ministers in late 2006. Technical annexes cover emerging findings from statistical modelling, a description of the modelling process, stakeholder engagement and research. Responses are required by 13 March 2006.
