Presents the experimental private rental index (Table 740 in Excel form) from the third quarter 1999. An explanation of the method of compiling the index is available on the DCLG website.There is currently no officially published index of private rental sector rents even though the Survey of English Housing (Table 734 in Excel form) and other government surveys have collected data on rent paid for some years. The index ceased publication in March 2008, with the last entry being made in quarter 4 2007.
