The rate of growth of house prices cooled sharply in April increasing by only 0.1%, down from 1.1% in March. The annual rate of house price growth fell back to 4.8% in April compared with 5.3% in March. The price of a typical UK house is now £163 573, £7 500 more than a year ago. Demand remains fairly resilient but housing market activity is likely to fall towards its long-term trend.
