House prices rose by 0.6% over June, taking growth to 2.9% over the first six months of 2006. London continues to be the primary driver for growth with average prices rising by 1.1% in June. House prices increased across 42% of England and Wales. The average house price now stands at £165 500. The 12 month price change is up 2.4%. The average time taken to sell decreased to 6.5 weeks compared to 7.4 weeks a year ago and the average number of viewings per sale has also gone down to 10.9 (13.2 a year ago). Sales agreed jumped by over 8% in June, up from a rise of 3.3% over May. Sales volumes rose across the country.
