Received Royal Assent on 1 April 2005. Repeals and re-enacts many of the provisions of the Fire Services Act 1947 as applied in Scotland. Makes provision about fire and rescue authorities and joint fire and rescue boards; restates and amends the law in relation to fire services; makes provision relating to the functions of such authorities and boards in connection with certain events and situations other than fires; makes provisions for the part implementation of directives 89/391/EEC, 89/654/EEC, 91/383/EC, 94/33/EC, 98/24/EC and 99/92/EC, relating to health and safety at work; and makes provision in relation to fire safety in certain premises. Comes into force on a day to be appointed.
