The average asking price fell by 1.6% as the mini-boom in southern England ran out of steam and this is the earliest indicator that prices are past their peak for 2006. The average property asking price now stands at £214 040. Seasonal slowdown and worsening affordability signal a return to a more realistic market. The average time on the market lengthened to 81 from 78 days and unsold property stocks per agent were up from 64 to 65. Annual house price inflation growth has fallen back to 9%.
