Reports that the UK economy is growing solidly, with consumer spending continuing to rise. In the commercial property market, occupier demand grew slightly, supporting rental growth, with rent rises roughly in line with consumer price inflation. The construction industry also continued to grow, with the outlook staying bright. In the residential sector, house price growth accelerated for the fifth consecutive month, reaching its fastest pace since May 2004. Buyer enquiries rose for the fifteenth month in a row in August, up at the fastest pace since September 2003. Graphs.
