House prices increased by 0.1% in May, the smallest rise since January's 0.2% fall. Recent momentum in the housing market has caused house price inflation to pick up in early 2006. The annual rate of 9.1% is the highest for 14 months but is expected to moderate in the second half of 2006.The standardised average house price (seasonally adjusted) stands at £178 997.
