Aims to encourage more pre-action contact between parties to enable court time to be used effectively. The protocol has been drafted by the Civil Justice Council further to its consultation paper "Rent arrears protocol" published on 15 June 2005 (L130374). It will come into effect from 2 October 2006. Covers the aims and scope of the protocol, initial contact, after service of statutory notices, alternative dispute resolution and court proceedings.
