House prices increased in October 2006 for the 12th consecutive month, hitting the fastest pace since September 2002. The pace of new buyer enquiries recovered in October after September's slower growth, and completed sales rose in the three months to October 2006 to a two year high, up 19% from 12 months ago. New instructions to sell property fell for the fifth consecutive month, with the stock of unsold property on surveyors' books also falling in October 2006. Surveyor confidence in the sales outlook fell back again due to predicted slowdown caused by rising interest rates, although confidence in the price outlook remained positive across all regions.
