Shows that average national asking prices rose by just 0.8%. Despite the postponed introduction of Home Information Packs, the expected deadline had already encouraged many sellers onto the market early. Accordingly, the average stock per estate agency branch has jumped by 10%, the biggest rise in 3 years. Over half of London boroughs showed a fall in prices, putting the capital below the national average. On becoming Prime Minister, Gordon Brown has listed housing as one of his top priorities. However he faces a number of challenges in the UK housing market.
