Reports that 54.7% more chartered surveyors reported a fall than a rise in January 2008. According to chartered surveyors, house prices are now rising only in Scotland. The fall in demand was the greatest since October, which had in turn been the sharpest fall since August 2004. 35% more surveyors reported a fall than a rise. Suggests that the effect of the credit crunch is preventing would-be buyers from entering the market. The avergage level of unsold property per surveyor is 85, the highest level since February 1999.
