Presents the results of a study into the thermal performance of traditional windows and ways in which heat loss can be reduced. The research was carried out by the Centre for Research on Indoor Climate and Health at Glasgow Caledonian University on behalf of Historic Scotland. Suggests that draught-proofing, the use of shutters and blinds, secondary double glazing and the use of double glazed replacement panes can all improve windows' thermal performance.
