In answer to the question, "what is the value of our offshore renewable energy resource?", the Offshore Valuation Group found that if 29% of the practical offshore renewable resource was harnessed by 2050, enough electricity could be generated to match North Sea oil and gas production. The research also found that the UK could achieve carbon dioxide reductions of 1.1bn tonnes between 2010 and 2050, and that 145 000 new jobs could be created by the industry in the UK.
