Development activity fell at slowest pace since the downturn began in late 2007. May data signalled the slowest overall reduction of commercial development activity since the start of the downturn in November 2007. TheTotal Commercial Development Activity Index was -4.0% in May, up from -8.9% in the previous month. The index pointed to a moderate fall in overall activity, with the latest reduction the weakest in the current nineteen-month period of contraction. Slower falls in commercial development activity have now been recorded for six months in a row.
