CABE report warns that supermarket led developments risk becoming a liability rather than an asset to communities if they are not well designed. This is based on a review of 30 major schemes from around the country by retailers including Tesco, Asda and Sainsburys. Argues that these schemes can bring valuable jobs and investment to an area but many are simply repeating old out of town proposals which are not suitable for town centres.
