High speed rail investing in Britain's future consultation [electronic resource]

Consultation on government proposals for a high speed rail network. A 'Y' shaped network is planned linking London, the West Midlands, Manchester and Leeds, with stations in South Yorkshire and the East Midlands, and links to existing lines to enable through-running services to other cities including Liverpool, Newcastle and Edinburgh. Journey times would be brought down with London to Birmingham achieved within 45 minutes and Manchester and Leeds within 80 minutes or less. The consultation runs until 29 July 2011.
