Explores the range of valuable ecosystem services that Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSIs) provide and gives estimates for the monetary value of the benefits derived from protecting biodiversity. The study shows that SSSIs deliver a range of ecosystem service including cultural services to people and the economy including tourism and education and by regulating services including water purification and regulation of climate.
