Over the last couple of decades the aggregates, cement and readymix concrete sectors have experienced substantial consolidation, mainly through acquisition. In September 2010 the OFT launched a market study into the aggregates sector to look at conditions of competition in the market and at whether the market delivered good value for money. This report concludes that the industry displays a number of features which may adversely affect competition.
