UK house prices increased by 1.4% since April 2011 and by 1.1% since March 2012. The mix-adjusted average house price was £229 000 in April 2012 (not seasonally adjusted). Annual average house prices increased by 1.7% in England but fell by 0.3% in Scotland, 8.1% in Northern Ireland and 1.1% in Wales. Average house prices paid on pre-owned dwellings were 1.1% lower. The ONS House Price Index was previously published by Department for Communities and Local Government as the CLG House Price Index.
