The Future Homes Commission set up by Royal Institute of British Architecture outlines five recommendations for improving the provision of new homes. These include increasing the number of new homes to 300 000 per year, setting up a Local Housing Development Fund financed and owned by local authority pension funds to develop local mixed tenure sustainable development, improving design features, creating a more consumer orientated housing market and empowering local communities to promote sustainable communities to local housing needs.
