Policy statement incorporates the Government's response to the Independent Panel on Forestry's Final Report. It sets out priorities for future Government policy making focusing on protecting, improving and expanding public and private woodlands. The statement also confirms that the Public Forest Estate will remain in public ownership and a new body will be established to hold the Estate in trust for the nation and manage it for the long term benefit of people, the economy and the environment.
