Notes that UK continues to have a shortfall in available housing, looks at the role of private rented sector (prs) in providing housing, assesses the impact of schemes such as Help to Buy on meeting demand for new housing and the increase in number of planning applications for new homes following review of the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF). Concludes that local demographic needs will vary from region to region, calls for a relaxation of planning regulations to allow building on greenfield sites and make more public land available for building and to increase house building targets.
