The National Federation of Housing Association`s budget submission calls for planned expenditure for 1996-1997 to be raised from £1.18bn to £2bn. The NFHA claims that between 130,000 and 150,000 new social units are needed per year whilst the "DoE memorandum on provision for social housing" recommends betwen 60,000 and 100,000.
