Outlines the history of the RICS?s professional education for Chartered Surveyors and considers some of the issues currently facing the professional education and training of valuers. It also discusses the "objectives and principles" of the approach which The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) is adopting in its role as an accrediting body of surveying courses around the world. Specifically, the paper covers the roles of professional Accreditation, Partnership and Threshold Standards, External Examiners, the assessment of pre-qualificational training (APC) and Continuing Professional Development.
