Coastal communities [electronic resource] Securing equitable access to land and natural resources

Coastal communities Securing equitable access to land and natural resources [electronic resource] - Washington FIG 2009

Securing equitabel access to coastal land and resources is a growing problem. It is suggested that a potential solution is an understanding of social justice principles as this accommodates the original coastal community and their need for resource access in the face of the economically powerful tourism and leisure community. This position paper proposes that applied social justice must be the outcome of the beneficial interaction between coastal communities and their need for resource access in the face of market forces such as economic development from the tourist community.
