Material received following the merger of RICS with the ISVA in 2000. The material is related to the ISVA and related organisations, including the Valuers Institution, and incorporates items such as founders' correspondence, material related to AGMs, correspondence related to proposed mergers, Royal Charter petitions etc.
The Incorporated Society of Auctioneers and Landed Property Agents was founded in 1924 with the purpose of raising the status of practitioners and promoting their interests. Regional branches were established in the years following its foundation, and a Junior Members' Organisation was started in 1930. In 1968, the organisation merged with the Valuers' Institution (originally formed in 1928), and became the Incorporated Society of Valuers and Auctioneers (ISVA). In 2000, the ISVA merged with the RICS.
