Sir John Egan, the leader of the government's review group on skills for delivering sustainable communities, has detailed his emerging conclusions at the ODPM conference on planning and productivity. The themes include the stipulation of generic skills essential to core professions in the built environment, the creation by planners of 'sustainable prosperity plans' setting out the infrastructure and development costs of schemes. He also outlines plans for establishing a national centre of excellence in sustainable communities skills, envisaged as a hub for regional centres.
