Advice on GM farm scale evaluation
Advice on GM farm scale evaluation
- 2004
- DEFRA News Release 13 January 2004 (3) Scottish Executive News Release (SEen757/2004) 13 January 2004 (2) .
The Advisory Committee on Releases to the Environment (ACRE) has reported on the results of the GM crop farm-scale evaluation. The Committee's main advice is that if GMHT beet and spring-sown oilseed rape were grown in a similar way to those in the farm-scale evaluation then adverse environmental impacts would result. There was no evidence of environmental degradation resulting from the cultivation of GMHT maize. Ministers from the UK government and from the Scottish and Welsh administrations will now consider the advice from ACRE and from English Nature before reaching further decisions on issues including whether EU marketing consents for GMHT maize should be revoked or amended.
