Commercial property performance in 2003 gave better than expected returns, but the strength of the stock market meant shares came out on top. The IPD Monthly index and the CBRE Monthly index survey of the performance of smaller portfolios of property showed an all property total return for 2003 of 11.3% and 11.4% respectively. Both were overtaken by the stockmarket as equity total returns reached 20.9%. Table.
