Overview of economic and commercial situation in France. There has been some improvement in the economy in the second half of 2003. The prospects for the commercial property market are reliant on employment and business investment performance. Rental values in the main office markets have fallen due to above average levels of new office construction. The retail rental values have remained largely static with new retail construction picking up in the third quarter of 2003. Meanwhile the industrial property market has shown sustained activity but construction has continued to decline. Economic prospects remain dependent on the current world and US recovery.
