CBI's latest "Monthly industrial trends survey", for February 2004 shows order books are still below normal, but are the best for three years. 929 manufacturers responded to the survey and 30% said that orders were below normal while 15% said they were above. The balance of minus 15% compares with minus 18% in January. Industries that did best included those that made plant and machinery along with makers of intermediate goods, such as tools and components.
