The inaugural edition of Halifax's "Annual first time buyer review" shows that eight out of ten towns are out of the price range of first time buyers. Compiled from information sourced from the Council of Mortgage Lenders, the ONS and Halifax's own housing statistics database, the report reveals that of the 667 main UK towns, 531 or 80% were unaffordable for first-time buyers.
