The total volume of construction output in 2003 rose by 4% compared to the previous year according to the latest figures from the DTI. Its fourth quarter report on output and employment in the construction industry for 2003, shows across the board increases in new private housing work, new work in the private industrial sector, housing repair and maintenance, as well as a slight increase in the construction workforce.
