The latest "Rightmove house price index" showing trends in asking prices up to 6 March 2004, reports a 2.9% rise in house prices since last month with the average property asking price standing at £179 570. Annual house price inflation has reached 11.9%, the highest level since August 2003. February activity levels in the market are close to twice those in December and significantly higher than in January.
