House prices sustained by falling supply of property

The latest "RICS housing market survey England and Wales" for the three months to February 2004 shows house prices continuing to rise across the UK, particularly in Wales and northern England. Surveyors remain confident that prices will continue to rise over the next three months. Stocks of unsold property on surveyors' books are now close to the survey's all time low in June 2002. The ratio of completed sales to unsold stock, at 55% for February, is at its highest level since December 2002.
