The Scottish Executive has announced new regulations for payment rates and support for the organic fruit and vegetable sector. The Organic Aid Scheme (Scotland) Regulations 2001 come into force on 1 May 2004. They include increases in grants to encourage the conversion of organic land; capital grants to support activities for conversion and contributions towards the costs of preparing a conversion plan.
