English Heritage begins radical overhaul of listed building system

English Heritage announces the launch of 15 pilot projects across England and Wales to test changes to the listing system. The aim of this is to simplify heritage protection by amalgamating statutory protection measures including listing historic building and registering parks, gardens and battlefields. The Department of Culture, Media and Sport plans to put the results of the pilot projects into a policy paper to be published at the end of this year.
