Shopping centre development in the UK is improving after a slump in the first two quarters of 2003, according to CB Richard Ellis. Shopping centre space in the pipeline at the end of 2003 totalled 59m sq ft (5.5m sq m) and retail park space in the pipeline totalled 29m sq ft (2.7m sq m). CBRE forecasts completions of new shopping centre projects will remain in line with the medium term averages of 5.5. million sq ft a year for shopping centres and 3.3 million sq ft a year out of town.
